Who can rest at a time like this???

.

If you know me, then you know I am my mother’s child.  If you know my mom, then you know she cannot sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time. This is LITERAL!!! Sit down and watch a movie, sit on the patio with no drinks or sound, take a nap… forget about it!  We have a go go GO mentality and REST really is not in our nature.  We don’t like to waste day light and we sure as heck cannot STAND to be bored!

.

So, this is how I have chosen to “relax” before this baby arrives.  I can’t take naps.  I have too much I want to get done!  I will be getting a mani/pedi today, that should help! But really, this kind of stuff is relaxing to me!

.

Thrift Store Find:

Night Stand: $50

.

I started sanding and then realized I should have taken the before pic… sorry.  It had a brass handle.

Sand paper: $4.00

I only needed 1 sheet!

Rust-oleum Real Orange Ultra Cover Spray Paint: $3.87

I used 2 1/2 cans and I wanted the gloss finish for this piece.

.

I started the project outside for ventilation purposes AND to not get spray paint everywhere, but then it started thunder-storming so I had to move it into the garage.  We already had the painters tarp.  I kept the garage door open even though it was raining.  I also wore a mask, gloves, and ruinable clothes!

.

*Note: if you paint inside make sure you have a tarp, and are not near ANYTHING that you do not want paint or paint dust on!!! Like a car.  I moved our cars outside.  The dust will get on surrounding areas.  It got on our garage floor, where the tarp did not cover, but I can sweep that off.

It took two coats.  1 can for the first coat and another for the second.  I used the third can for a few spot touch ups at the end.

.

Drawer handle: $4.78

Luckily Home Depot had the 2 1/2″ handle I needed.  This was my only option, but it was the look I was going for, so it worked out.

Ta-Da!!! I think it looks awesome!!!

Am I prepared? I have no CLUE! June 17, 2013

Filed under: Baby Stuff — thesimonadventures @ 11:43 am

So, I am 38 weeks pregnant, no signs of labor what-so-ever, and I am patiently waiting for this little guy to arrive.  I say patiently, but if he doesn’t hurry up it’s going to look like I am preparing for the zombie apocalypse instead of a baby!!

.

So far…

.

For the hospital:

.

– I have packed my bags for the hospital TWICE.  I packed then re-packed them.

.

.

Bag includes:

.

– 2 outfits for baby, in case one is too big or too small.

.

– 1 receiving blanket

– 2 pairs of baby socks, mittens and 2 hats.  (1 hat I will use to send home for the dogs to smell.)

.

– Toiletries

.

– yoga pants

.

– 2 t-shirts

.

– 1 destroyable robe

.

– undies and socks

.

– pajama pants

.

– I also have a little bag filled with snacks, magazines, pens and stuff.  *I need to remember to put chargers for the ipads and phones in there!!!

.

.

– Camera bag is ready to go!

.

*None of this is in the car… but it will be by the end of the week.  We had a car break in at my office, and I REALLY don’t want this stuff to get stolen because then I would have to cut someone and that’s never fun right before you have a baby.

.

For home:

.

– I have purchased starter essentials for diapering (this is on top of what I already have from my shower)

.

– Baby oil

 .

– baby powder

.

– Desitin

.

– baby lotion

.

– I have enough toilet paper in the house for at least 2 months… (with this one you just never know)

.

– I made a lasagne and it’s in the freezer.

.

– I purchased enough food for what I thought would be 2 months… I was wrong, so I will need to go buy more! But I do have a good bit of frozen stuff just in case!

.

– I have lady pads and other toiletries to last at least a month. I HOPE!

.

– The kid should have enough clothes and diapers to last the next few months.

.

– The carpets are getting cleaned next week

.

– The Pack and Play is set up in our room, along with the rocker/sleeper

.

I know we need to take an infant CPR class… I just need to find one.  You can take that after baby, right? I will watch some videos just in case.

.

I can’t think of anything else.

.

What am I missing????
