Who can rest at a time like this???

.

If you know me, then you know I am my mother’s child.  If you know my mom, then you know she cannot sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time. This is LITERAL!!! Sit down and watch a movie, sit on the patio with no drinks or sound, take a nap… forget about it!  We have a go go GO mentality and REST really is not in our nature.  We don’t like to waste day light and we sure as heck cannot STAND to be bored!

.

So, this is how I have chosen to “relax” before this baby arrives.  I can’t take naps.  I have too much I want to get done!  I will be getting a mani/pedi today, that should help! But really, this kind of stuff is relaxing to me!

Thrift Store Find:

Night Stand: $50

.

I started sanding and then realized I should have taken the before pic… sorry.  It had a brass handle.

Rust-oleum Real Orange Ultra Cover Spray Paint: $3.87

I used 2 1/2 cans and I wanted the gloss finish for this piece.

I started the project outside for ventilation purposes AND to not get spray paint everywhere, but then it started thunder-storming so I had to move it into the garage.  We already had the painters tarp.  I kept the garage door open even though it was raining.  I also wore a mask, gloves, and ruinable clothes!

.

*Note: if you paint inside make sure you have a tarp, and are not near ANYTHING that you do not want paint or paint dust on!!! Like a car.  I moved our cars outside.  The dust will get on surrounding areas.  It got on our garage floor, where the tarp did not cover, but I can sweep that off.

It took two coats.  1 can for the first coat and another for the second.  I used the third can for a few spot touch ups at the end.

.

Drawer handle: $4.78

Luckily Home Depot had the 2 1/2″ handle I needed.  This was my only option, but it was the look I was going for, so it worked out.

Baby Simon Nursery… Progress April 26, 2013

I used Pinterest for color inspiration.  I am going with new grass green, navy, white, touches of orange, and dark espresso furniture.

We are in the process of finishing the bead board and chair rail.  Then we will need to paint that, put together the crib and changing table, and decorate!!!! This is the best part so far! 🙂  I feel like once we finish the nursery that it’s really really REAL!
